Two men entered a house in Lenasia Extension 13’s Jewel Street and escaped with three cell phones, an undisclosed amount of money, a kettle and a pair of sneakers.
In the early hours of Monday, January 11, one of the victims went outside the house to use the bathroom. Upon returning forgot to lock the door and minutes after two men entered.
“The robbers first opened the door and closed it but before I could tell my father to lock the door, they walked in,” said a family member.
One suspect opened the door and flashed a torch at the victim’s faces.
“The suspects told us to go back to sleep,” the family member added.
The second suspect entered the house and stood guard at the door whilst the other searched the house.
According to the family member, the father tried hiding away the R600 which was in the medication sachet, however, the sachet made a noise.
“The one suspect grabbed the sachet and continued to search the house and then escaped”,” said Captain Hector Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS.
