A car wash owner (34) was arrested after he was found in possession of a hijacked vehicle on Thursday, January 14.
“The Mercedes, with registration number DM47XBGP, was allegedly dropped off with the keys at the car wash on the corner of Okapi and Zebra Street in Lenasia Extension 5,” said Captain Hector Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS.
Gauteng Traffic Police were patrolling the area when they received information from Tracker about the hijacked vehicle.
Upon investigation the police found the Mercedes at the car wash.
“The owner of the car wash said someone brought the vehicle and had dropped it off at the car wash,” said Netshivhodza.
He also mentioned that the vehicle was hijacked at Crystal Park earlier in the month.
“Crystal Park SAPS are investigating a case of hijacking. However, we are investigating a case of possession of a hijacked vehicle,” Netshivhodza said.
