The Station Commander of Booysens Police Station, Brigadier Crafford, wishes to make the community aware of the following:
Under no circumstances will the South African Police Service request money for services of any nature or for the performance of its duties. If anyone receives a call from a police official informing the person that a stolen vehicle has been recovered and that the owner is required to deposit money into a bank account in order to receive the vehicle, this is illegal and the vehicle owner is requested to report the matter to the nearest police station.
Even if the information supplied to the owner regarding his /her vehicle is correct, the owner is requested to contact the investigating officer, or the Detective Branch commander, to confirm the information.
