Recently, Johannesburg Central Police, in conjunction with local pastors, erected a cross on the M2 West, in front of Main Reef Road. This is the main entrance for people travelling to the Johannesburg CBD.

Johannesburg Central spokesperson, Captain Xoli Mbele said, “We are asking for God to protect the people who come to Johannesburg from any harm or crime. We are saying God must take charge of the city and make it easier for the police to execute their duty, and to ensure that people felt much safer.”
After the event the police embarked on a clean-up campaign at the Bree taxi rank, and the park next to the taxi rank.
Vispol Commander, Lt. Colonel Hine, reunited a 22-year-old male, known as Lizwelethu Doctor Mngomezulu, with his mother, after five years of residing on the streets. The mother of the boy took a bus from Durban to fetch her son. Lt. Colonel Hine bought a ticket for the 22-year-old to be able to go back home with his mother.
Captain Mbele said, “This shows that police care for the community. Our humble plea to the families who know that their loved ones are sleeping on the streets of Johannesburg, to please come and fetch them.
