Recently, the Soweto West SAPS Cluster arrested a 26-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Thubelisha.
“Police were conducting a stop and search operation when they spotted a suspicious man walking on the street, they stopped and asked to search him and he didn’t resist,” said Sergeant Vincent Mashiteng of the Soweto West SAPS Cluster.
Upon searching the suspect, police discovered that he was in possession of a firearm.

“When they checked they noticed that it was “bird hunting rifle”. The suspect failed to give the police a satisfactory explanation of what he was doing with the weapon at night.”
The suspect was arrested on the spot and was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm. The suspect appeared in the Protea Magistrates’ Court on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm.
