On July 20, Johannesburg Central Cluster Crime Combating Unit arrested three between the ages of 23 to 28 for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and for possession of a stolen motor vehicle at Naturena.
Captain Xoli Mbele of Johannesburg Central SAPS said, “Police spotted a white Polo with four suspicious looking occupants. When they compared the VIN number with the engine number, it did not correspond. It emerged that the vehicle was stolen in Pretoria in June 2018.”
Mbele added, “One of the men told police that he had left his vehicle at Heffer Street because it ran out of petrol. Police took him there and found a blue Toyota Yaris, which was hijacked in Krugersdorp, in February 2017.”
