Johannesburg Central SAPS is investigating several cases where victims were robbed after withdrawing a large amount of money.
It is believed females working with males target people who withdraw money from the bank or an ATM. Their modus operandi is as follows:
The thieves will drop a wad of money and then they will point out the money lying on the floor to someone who has just withdrawn money from an ATM. The thieves then enquire as to whether the money belongs to them and when the victims deny ownership thereof, the suspects will make a suggestion to share the money.

The thieves will then take the victim to a secluded spot where he/she is then held up and robbed.
SAFETY TIPS

•       Change direction if money is dropped in front of you,
•       If  you are being followed, make a loud noise to draw attention to yourself
•       Inform the police or security guards
