Police hailed community members for their role in rooting out the corrupt elements in their area. Recently, Johannesburg Central police arrested four suspects between the ages of 23 to 38 for dealing in nyaope (whoonga). More than R20 000 worth of cash was also recovered. The suspects were busted at corner Commissioner and Goud Street.

Johannesburg Central, spokesperson, Captain Xoli Mbele said, “Police were busy with their prevention duties at the corner of Bree and Sauer Street when they received a tip-off about people dealing in drugs. Swift response by the police led to the arrest and confiscation of the drugs. Police recovered nyaope and R20 450 in cash.”
Captain Mbele added, “We would like to thank the members of the community for being our eyes and ears in the fight against crime. The police and the community working together, is yielding positive results. Keep up the good work.”
