The dangers of illegal electricity, have once again been highlighted, after two brothers aged 10 and 12, were fatally electrocuted at the Precast informal settlement recently.
According to a source, the siblings had missed their school bus on the fateful morning of Monday, March 26.
While making their way home, the younger brother touched an illegally connected live wire and was electrocuted. Upon witnessing his brother screaming in agony, the older one attempted to grab hold of his brother, but sadly, he too was electrocuted.

Paramedics declared the two dead at the scene.
“We are appealing to the community to educate their children on the dangers of illegally connecting electricity and to steer clear if they come across illegal connections ,” said Lenasia SAPS spokesperson, Captain Hector Netshivhodza.
The death, one of many, highlights the plight of the lack of basic services to informal settlements.
