The Swartz family in De Deur is still reeling in shock, after one of their relatives’ body was allegedly found badly dismembered and parts of it missing.
The naked body of Arnold Douglas Swartz, 37, was discovered near Walkerville on October 15.

The bodies of two other people were also discovered in the same area during the past few weeks. It is also alleged that they too were killed in the same manner.
Community members are adamant that Mr Swartz was killed by dogs or lions. Law enforcement agencies believe that the post-mortem will reveal the cause of the death.
Family members have more questions than answers, and all they want is closure.
Mandy Ruiter, Mr Swartz’s cousin, said the wounds clearly shows that her cousin was eaten, not bitten by dogs.

“When I found out that he was not the only one, I was shocked. They (the police) were supposed to do something. His bones were ripped from his flesh. If he was killed by dogs they would have eaten his bones. Hopefully, the post-mortem will reveal the course of his death.”

Commander Molefe of the De Deur SAPS Station said the exact cause of the death is unknown at this stage.  He, however, stated that the police, together with other departments, are investigating the matter.
