After much intervention by law agencies, shooting still continues in Westbury . In less than ten days more than three people have been shot in gang related issues.
Community members are adamant that police are not doing enough. Others believe that their children’s future is in jeopardy.

On September 2, 3 people were shot during a shootout between alleged gangsters at Corner Pulla and other at Steytler Street. One died on the scene.
Shahiem Ismail, community leader said they have exhausted all avenues with no luck, “We have for the past pleading with the police to come to our rescue with no luck, our cries are falling into deaf ears. The only thing that we can do as community members is to be observant in and around Westbury. Let’s pray for divine intervention”, he said.
He adds, “Our lives are at risk, our children are at high risk. We are calling all interested parties to come on board. We demand nation police minister to intervene. Enough lives have been lost. Government must also and deploy additional police to our community”, he said.
