Police are searching for a man after his young son was found dead with a fractured skull and various other injuries on Saturday.
The incident happened in Honeydew, Johannesburg.
According to an SAPS tweet on Twitter, Marthinus Pelser, 22, disappeared after his son was discovered dead in his cot at home.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela said there was still no sign of the man, who had disappeared after his baby boy was found dead, Roodepoort Record reported.
“Pelser’s wife left the baby in his care when she went to work. On her return she found the baby dead in his cot. When she went to ask Pelser what had happened he had already left in her vehicle. He has not been seen since.
“Pelser is wanted for questioning to ascertain what happened to the baby,” added Makhubela.
He said the baby had burns to his body and a head injury.
Pelser is the driver of a white Kia Piccanto with registration number TXR 167 GP.
