Stolen vehicle recovered

On Tuesday, May 10, a 37-year-old man was arrested after he was found with a stolen VW Microbus in Lenasia Extension 1’s Nirvana Drive.

The vehicle was stolen on April 16 in Lenasia Extension 1, on the corner Nirvana and Adu Baker Asvat Drive.

According to a source, on the day, the owner noticed a VW Microbus, that looked similar to his, parked amongst other microbuses opposite Nural Islam.

“The owner of the vehicle contacted the sector members patrolling in the area.  SAPS together with patrollers quickly responded to the scene and the vehicle was checked,” said Constable Mashiteng of the Protea Glen SAPS.

The owner identified the VW Microbus as that which belonged to him.

De-registered plates were attached to the microbus and the vehicle disk was removed.

“The vehicle’s engine numbers were also tampered with.The suspect was arrested on the spot,” added Mashiteng.

The suspect appeared in the Lenasia Magistrates’ Court the following day.
