On Monday, May 9, Mic Holders (a patrolling initiative) embarked on a search for suspects after a house break-in at a house on Seal Crescent in Lenasia Extension 7.
At about 2.35am armed suspects gained entry to the back of the house through an aluminium window. However, they could not gain access to the main house because of a gate separating the back and main houses.
The perpetrators removed roof tiles and tried to gain entry through the trap door but the owners of the house were awoken by the noise and their dogs barking.
According to a source, shots were fired but the suspects managed to escape by jumping over the side wall, leaving behind a back pack and a few jackets.
“Members of Mic Holders called for assistance and the entire area was searched,” said the source.
It has been said that CCTV footage from the house was limited and there was no footage of the suspects entering or leaving the premises.
At about 2:40am, a patroller from Mic Holders from Lenasia Extension 13 spotted four men walking on Jewel Street towards the reeds.
“This was confirmed by CCTV footage. Again the area was checked but there was no sign of the suspects.
“A bag was found with swimming equipment which was taken from the premises of Seal Crescent,” added the source.
