One suspect in the soot out that occurred in Lenasia earlier today has died in hospital.
According to JMPD spokesperson superintendent Wayne Minaar, three suspects had been shot, one was arrested on scene and one escaped.
” JMPD officers received a radio message at about 3.20pm today to look out for a white Fortuna which was hi- jacked in Walkerville, officers spotted the vehicle close to the Trade Route Mall in Lenasia,” said Minaar.
As the officers approached the vehicle the suspects jumped into a Hyundai H1 and opened fire on the two officers.
” The officers returned fire injuring three of the suspects. One of the suspects has since died in the Chris Hani Barra Gwanath Hospital, whilst two are under police guard,”Minaar said.
One firearm was found on scene.
