Two men were arrested for separate robberies in Lenasia South, on Wednesday, April 4.
In the first robbery, a man was found hiding in the ceiling of the home he had broken into along Milkwood Street. The owner said she received a call from her security provider informing her that the house alarm went off.
“I had been at my daughter’s graduation ceremony when I got the call,” she said.
She then alerted her neighbour and also posted it on the Sector Group on Whatsapp. When patrollers saw the post, they rushed to the house and nabbed the thief who man had entered the house by removing the roof tiles. Two bedrooms were ransacked.
“I thank God for the patrollers who managed to nab the culprit,” the home owner said.
In the second incident, a man is alleged to have stolen a cell phone and fled towards the Five to Five informal settlement.
He was also apprehended by community patrollers and handed over to police.
