A plastic bag containing a dead foetus was found next to the Lenasia Railway Station on Friday, April 8.
According to Captain Hector Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS, at about 9am Pikitup contractors were cleaning the Lenasia CBD when they noticed the plastic bag.
“The plastic was covered by a box and ashes (as the area around the foetus was set alight),” said Netshivhodza.
The foetus was identified as that of a girl.
“No arrests have been made thus far as the mother is unknown at this stage,” added Netshivhodza.
Police are investigating a case of inquest and concealment of death. Police urge anyone with information concerning the foetus to contact the Lenasia SAPS on 011-213-6000 or 079-525-1428.
