House robberies are becoming rampant in Lenasia and house owners are urged to be more vigilant when hiring domestic workers. Yesterday, March 10, an Indian female alleged that she was at her residence in Seal Crescent, Lenasia Extension 7. While taking a bath her employee called her asking for soap. The domestic employee was on her payroll for only three days. Lenasia SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant, Bafana Ndimande said, “The employer got out of the bathroom to give the suspect the soap when the suspect confronted her and started to choke her with her hands. She tried to retaliate but an unknown African male appeared in the house and assisted the female suspect. They tied her hands and asked for money. They then took some items and an undisclosed amount of money and fled.”
Sgt Ndimande added, “The police are investigating a case of house robbery and we appeal to the community to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. The female employee is known as Bhungane Nokuthula with suspected fake Identity Document number 8510041231085. We appeal to the community to be vigilant at all times and report any criminal activities to the SAPS National Crime Stop line at 08600 10111 or Lenasia Police Station at (011) 213-6045/6 or (011) 213-6057.”
