Lenasia South SAPS is investigating a case of murder following the discovery of the body of a male. It was discovered on May 10 in the middle of the street at the Phumla Mqashi informal settlement.
Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Khalipha Mvula, said, “The grim discovery was made at around 4 am by the community members who alerted the authorities. The deceased aged 35, sustained multiple injuries that are suspected to have been inflicted when he was being subjected to beatings by a mob that allegedly accused him of involvement in a recent burglary incident in one of the houses in the area. The deceased is a Zimbabwean national, and his body was identified by his next of kin at the scene of the crime. No arrests have been made at this stage. Police are currently following up on clues that could lead to the apprehension of all those behind this heinous crime.”
