On Thursday, February 10. Swift response by the Lenasia SAPS led to the arrest of five suspects for a business robbery. Lenasia SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Bafana Ndimande, said, “A male alleged that he was officially on duty at Lawley Road, Anchorville (Lenasia) when an unknown African male entered and pointed a firearm at him. Another male stormed in, and he was forced to lie on the floor. When his colleagues ran out of the store, he too stood up and ran away. He then spotted the males driving away in a gold Toyota Corolla with an unknown registration number.”

Sgt Ndimande added, “He later noticed that an undisclosed amount of cash was taken and a red BMW motor vehicle stolen.  Police officers were informed about what happened, and they chased after the Toyota Corolla. The officers managed to stop the vehicle at Hydrangea Avenue in Lenasia Extension 2, and apprehended five males. The officers searched the  vehicle and found three firearms. The BMW was later found abandoned in Lenasia Extension 10.  The firearms and a Toyota Corolla were seized and handed in as exhibits. The males were detained at Lenasia SAPS cells. The men will appear shortly at the Protea Magistrates Court.”
