Police have launched a manhunt following the fatal shooting of a 56-year-old man and an informal trader at the corner of Wimbledon, in Lenasia South, earlier this morning. The informal trader was shot by a stray bullet. Constable Dakalo Phemula of Soweto Cluster said, “It’s alleged that the victim was transporting school children when occupants in a silver Grey Mercedes Benz with registration number by 87 GW GP, opened fire at him then fled the scene.”

Phemula added, “A 5-year-old minor was also injured in the right hand and taken to the hospital. The deceased sustained multiple bullet wounds to the upper body. A total of 9 cartridges were collected from the scene. The motive behind the shooting unknown at the moment. A police investigation is underway.
