As the confirmed positive cases of Covid-19 patients increased, law enforcement agencies adopted a decisive approach in tackling non-compliance by conducting roadblocks in different areas. A major roadblock was conducted at the Grasmere Toll Gate, just before Freedom Park on April 5. On April 6, Law enforcement agencies were deployed in Lenasia. Permits were requested from motorists, taxi drivers and passengers. The taxi operation time was also on the agenda, and those who were caught on the wrong side of the law were arrested and had their taxis impounded.
JMPD spokesperson, Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, said, they were here to ensure that the law is followed. A sentiment which was shared by the Traffic Management Corporation, chairman, Zola Majavu, Road (RTMC).
