A car dealership along the K43 road was robbed on December 19 of 6 cars totalling about R1.3 million.Two men and two women, posing as couples are alleged to have entered the premises on the pretence of intending to buy a car. They allegedly requested that the car, a BMW convertible, be started.
Once the car had been started, the men overpowered the manager and forced him at gun point to one of the offices where all the employees were bound with cable ties. About six or more other men then emerged from another vehicle and demanded the keys to all vehicles.
The suspects are alleged to have made off with six cars; two Audi A4’s, an Audi A5, a Mercedes Benz, a BMW 120i Convertible and a VW Golf 6 GTI.
According to a source, two cars have been recovered so far. One was recovered at Vosloorus on the East Rand and another in Soweto.
According to Aziz of Fast Car Auto, the VW Golf 6 GTI was recovered and one of the Audi A4s. one was recovered at Vosloorus on the East Rand and another in Soweto.
Aziz says he pressed the panic button soon after the culprits made off, alerting a security company, police also attended the scene. the case is under investigation. he further added that the trauma left him with anxiety.
“It was traumatic. I felt like closing the gate and going away because the incident crippled the business,” said Aziz.
