The South African Police Service is investigating a case of house robbery and murder following a burglary during the early hours of Thursday, December 4. The incident occurred in Mount Cusna Street in Lenasia South Extension 4.
It is alleged that four armed men stormed into the house and that some of the family members locked themselves inside one of the bedrooms.
“A 35 year old armed male was shot by the owner of the house when he tried to enter the bedroom after forcing open the door. The injured man and his accomplices fled from the scene with cell ‘phones. They allegedly fired several shots as they fled,” said Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson, Sergent Khalipha Mvula.
The body of the alleged burglar was found lying a few hundred meters from the scene. He had sustained two gunshot wounds to his upper body.
“A manhunt for the other three burglars, who are on the run, is underway and the police are following up on positive leads,” said Sgt Mvula.
