A young man (18) was hit with the butt of a gun during a mugging along the K43 opposite Lenmed on Saturday, November 21.
This incident has raised awareness of how notorious the K43 has become, said Zain, the victim’s father who wished to be identified as Zain.
“They took his cell phone, shoes and socks,” he said. According to him there have been ongoing robberies occurring along the K43. “Especially opposite the hospital, it has become a hotspot,” Zain said.
Zain’s son was driving home when he was approached by his attackers. He adds that the security guards at the hospital did not help his son fight the culprits. “They said their job was only inside the premises of the hospital,” said Zain.
He took his son to the Lenasia Extension 5 clinic at about 3pm and to Zain’s disappointment was told there were no doctors available. He then travelled to the Lenasia South clinic where they assisted his son.
The area has been identified as a hotspot and motorists and pedestrians should be vigilant along the road.
