A 20-year-old mother from Vlakfontein has been missing since Sunday, November 15. Shortly before she went missing, Ntombizanele Prudence Mbatha, called her mum who lives in Soweto, in a frantic state and said there were three armed men who were holding her and her 2-year-old child hostage in their home.
The men had instructed Mbatha to call her mother and inform her of their presence.
“The victim called her mother and told her there were men with guns at the house and were threatening to take her away. The mother then responded by saying she was on her way back,” said Communication Officer Sergeant Khalipha Mvula of Lenasia South SAPS.
According to Mvula neighbours close to the home heard nothing and saw nothing. At this stage it still unknown whether she is kidnapped or what actually transpired. Police are seeking the community to help them track both the culprits and Mbatha.
A case of kidnap was opened at the Lenasia South SAPS. Anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Sergeant Mareletse on 083-646-8470.
