Pep store in Lenasia Extension 1, next to the railway station, was robbed on Thursday, November 12.
According to Captain Hector Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS, one of the three suspects entered the store, approached one of the workers and told them it was a robbery.
The gun welding suspects instructed the workers and customers to move to the store room. It has been said the suspects demanded keys to the safe where cell phones were stored.
“A gun was cocked and put to my head, and I was told to make it fast,” said Agnes Govender, the store manager.
“The suspects took money from one customer and an uncounted number of cell phones and fled the scene.
“No one was injured and we are investigating a case of business robbery,” said Captain Netshivhodza.
According to Govender, the staff was taken for trauma counselling the day following the incident.
