On Friday, June 8, The Johannesburg Metro Police Department’s K9 Unit discovered 554 mandrax tablets and six bags of mandrax powder at a drug house in Eldorado Park Extension 9.
“The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officers acted on a tip-off after they received a call about a Volkswagen Polo Vivo, previously hijacked in Tsakane, being traced to a house in the area,” said MMC Michael Sun, MMC for public Safety.
According to MMC Sun, after positively identifying the hijacked vehicle, officers searched the house and uncovered the drugs.
“We have been receiving multiple complaints about the blatant drug dealing in Eldorado Park and our JMPD K9 Unit has been monitoring the situation undercover. We knew it was just a matter of time before this drug bust was made. We want to thank and urge the community to continue to assist the JMPD with information on any criminal activities so we can bring these criminals down,” MMC Sun said.
No suspects were arrested. Investigations are continuing and police are confident that the suspects will be arrested soon.
“The mandrax, together with the hijacked vehicle, were booked in at the Eldorado SAPS. Anyone with information relating to this case is requested to contact the SAPS or the JMPD on 011-375-5911.”
