Two children died and 12 people were injured this morning following a fatal car accident along the N12 just outside the Lenasia.
The accident happened at around 6am when a double cab bakkie made a u-turn on the freeway.
Another car, a Ford ST collided into the rear end of the bakkie. Two children, a seven-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were declared dead on scene.
“The bakkie had been on its way to the Cape Province when the driver made a u-turn,” said Donovan of Emer-g-med.
According to JMPD spokesperson Wayne Minaar, JMPD officers arrested the 41-year-old driver.
“He will be charged for culpable homicide as well as reckless and negligent driving at Moroka Police Station,” Minaar said.
