Parents are currently filling in registration forms for Grade 1 and Grade 8 learners for the 2019 academic year. Prerequisites include submitting certified copies of documents. Police stations render these services. However, there have been numerous complaints of police officers certifying only ten copies and asking community members to return to the back the queue for their next set of documents to be certified.
Speaking to the Rising Sun, Lenasia Police Station’s spokesperson, Captain Netshivhodza, said members of the public can certify as many copies as they want to.
“ We are here to serve our communities. Members of the public can certify copies, provided they have the original documents.
“If there are lot of people at the charge office, officials must work on a first-come, first served basis. No one must be sent back to the queue,” said Captain Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS.
“We are compelled by law to serve our community. We must strive to serve and alleviate public concerns. Police officials get paid and no one should pay for certifying copies.”
He added, “If one is experiencing bad service, one must report it to the station commander. Going forward, we will address this matter with police officers to ensure better service delivery.”
