A 22-year-old man is in police custody following his arrest by the Soweto West Cluster’s FCS Unit on Sunday, September 17.
“The arrest comes after an incident that allegedly took place on Monday, September 11, at around midday, near the Lenasia South Secondary School in Lenasia South Extension 1,” said Sergeant Khalipha Mvula of the Lenasia South SAPS.
It is alleged that the 13-year-old victim together with her friend and the suspect were all in the kombi.
“The suspect allegedly ordered the victim’s friend to step outside of the kombi, and as soon as the sliding door closed, the suspect started fondling the victim, undressing her of her school uniform and then raped her,” said Sergeant Khalipha Mvula.
A case of rape was later opened at the Lenasia South SAPS. The suspect will appeared at the Lenasia Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 19, to face a charge of rape.
