Two explosives were recently discovered at a dump site in the Joe Slovo informal settlement.
Johannesburg SAPS spokesperson, Xoli Mbele said, “We can confirm that explosives were discovered in the aforementioned area.”

A community leader, Isack Ismail, said the community is still shocked at the discovery.
“We are scared, we don’t know who planted the explosives at the dump site. The worst part is that the suspects are unknown at this stage. I strongly believe that if this matter goes unattended, it will send a wrong message to the criminals. We want to see the suspects behind bars”, Ismail said.
