After the domestic worker took out the dustbin, she was escorted back into the house by three armed men on Wednesday, October 14.The incident unfolded in Lenasia South’s Extension 1.
Around 8.20am the domestic worker was taken by surprise by two armed men. The men escorted the domestic worker back into the house, and then approached the home owner.
“Initially I thought there were only two men but then the third one walked into the room,” said the home owner. At gun point, the home owner was instructed to show them the safe.
The domestic worker and the home owner were bound, covered by a blanket and put in a room. “They used my husband’s shirt to tie us up,” the home owner added. The robbers ransacked the house and fled the scene.
“The suspects escaped the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, jewellery and an electric reader,” said Sergeant Mvula of the Lenasia South SAPS.
Sergeant Mvula added the suspects escaped the scene in a black VW Polo.
“After the suspects had left and it was quiet, I was able to untie myself, lock the door, and press the panic button,” explained the home owner.
It has been said the suspects are notorious for house and business robberies in the area. “It is possible that the suspects also operate in Lenasia,” Sergeant Mvula added.
According to Mvula, no shots were fired and no one was injured.
