Local businessman Hoosain Nahid, owner of Al Zam Zam Restaurant on the Golden Highway, was hijacked in Lenasia South at about 11.15pm on August 20.
According to reports, he closed his business at 11pm, as he usually does.
“As he was heading home, five armed men travelling in a white Quantum approached him and his employees in the bakkie on Karasberg Street. They pulled him off and pointed Hoosain and his staff with firearms,” said a source.
The suspects took Hoosain out of the bakkie and forced him into the Quantum then fled the scene, heading towards Vlakfontein.
Sergeant khalipha Mvula of the Lenasia South SAPS confirmed the incident.
The motive for kidnapping is unclear at this stage.
