The murder of 56-year-old Yoga Malingham, who ran a tuck-shop from his house, has left the Lenasia South community reeling in shock.
Malingham’s bruised and battered body was found at his Mount Sidley Street home on Saturday, August 19, by his sister. The gruesome discovery was made at around 7.30am. Malingham’s sister asked a neighbour to force open the gate and front door after receiving no response from her brother, when she tried to contact him.
Malingham was found lying on the floor of his tuck-shop with extensive injuries to his head and face.
He is said to have closed the tuck-shop at the usual time.

The only time he would close his shop for an extended period of time was when he participated in the Comrades Marathon.Malingham’s death has left his family and the community in shock.
Malingham was a member of the Daxina Striders Athletics Club.
Fellow road- runner and club member Komalan Moodley expressed his shock at the death of Malingham, saying that he (Malingham) loved to run.
“He loved his road running it was his life and it brought him joy. He recently finished his 25th Comrade’s Marathon,” Moodley said.
“It’s still hard to believe what happened to Yoga, may his soul rest in peace,” Moodley added.
The Lenasia South SAPS is investigating a case of murder. No arrests have been made as yet.
