The recent crime stats indicated the number of sexual offences is decreasing in Gauteng. However, statistics do not stop the crime from being committed.

Two women were raped over the weekend, October 3-4.

In the first incident, a woman (42) was raped in the Thembelihle Informal Settlement on Saturday, October 3.

The victim, suspect, suspect’s mother and an acquaintance were sitting at Lizy’s Place, a local tavern.

The acquaintance suggested the suspect should accompany the victim home as it was already dark outside.

The two came across an open veld, where victim was raped.

“The victim had mentioned that she did as she was told because she was afraid of the suspect, as he had once murdered someone,” explained a reliable source.

In a second incident, a woman (40) was raped by her ex-boyfriend, who is the father of her child, on Sunday, October 4, in Lehae.

Around 9pm, the victim was at home when the suspect knocked at her door.

“The victim and the suspect did not reside together,” said a reliable source.

When the victim refused to open the door, the suspect used an unknown object to let himself inside.

According to the source, an argument broke out between the two, which progressed to the suspect first slapping and then beating the victim with a broom stick.

According to reports, the suspect raped the victim in front of their 3-year-old child.

The following morning the suspect is said to have made a cup of tea before he left.

“The suspects was later arrested,” said Captain Hector Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS.
