When a homeowner in Lenasia South Extension 4’s Bora Peak, went to her wardrobe to fetch a globe, what she noticed left her reeling in shock and anger.
Her jewels, worth R100 000, had disappeared.
The woman who preferred to remain anonymous says that not only her jewels were missing, but R5 000 in cash also disappeared.

According to the woman, the disappearance of the items came shortly after her mother had hired a new domestic worker.
“The worker pitched up at my house looking for a job and my mother gave her ironing to do,” the woman said.
She returned again a day later to do some more house work. Only this time she decided to leave before finishing all her chores.
“She told me she would return the next day to complete some of the ironing she left behind,” she said.
The unsuspecting woman let the woman go.
The discovery was made when the women went to her wardrobe to fetch a globe.
“The jewels have always been kept in the wardrobe, it was hidden under a black gown. Yet when I got there were just empty boxes,” she said.
Instinct kicked in and she checked her underwear drawer where she had kept cash; that too was missing.
“I opened a case at the Lenasia South police station but it has gotten me no- where,” she said.
The woman claims to have the suspect’s details, yet the police have done nothing about it.
“I am not getting any help from the police, I even gave them an address she had provided us with, yet they still have not done anything,” the woman said.
