Three suspects nabbed for armed robbery

Police have intensified their fight against crime in the Johannesburg CBD, this was prompted by the increase of crime within the Johannesburg CBD. Their efforts are paying off.

Recently, Johannesburg Central police arrested three suspects between the ages of 17 to 33 for armed robbery. The trio were arrested at Boxer’s Club Tavern (at corner Claim and Mooi Street).

Captain Xoli Mbele, Johannesburg Central police spokesperson, said, “It is alleged that three suspects robbed a 42-year-old male and his friend.

The victim was driving a white Quantum and was stationary at the robot when three males approached him and one of them pointed him with a firearm. They took their cell phones before they fled the scene”.

He stated, “Whilst police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties at corner Jeppe and Polly Street, they were stopped by the two men who alerted them of their ordeal. Police drive with them around and went into the tavern. They pointed the suspects while busy enjoying themselves.

“A toy-gun and victim’s cell phones were recovered from the suspects. A police investigation is under way and suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon”.
