Four suspects and a warrant officer were arrested after the Hawks and crime intelligence officers pounced on a drug laboratory in De Deur on Wednesday.
An estimated R100 million worth of Mandrax was confiscated.
Raw materials, large pots, chemicals, a tablet press and amounts of the finished product in tablet form were found on the scene.
“Today the Hawks and crime intelligence have made a big impact … I’m so happy today I’m sure the people of this country can say the Hawks are flying,” elated Hawks boss, Major General Mthandazo Ntlemeza told The Citizen.
Ntlemeza visited the scene this morning and police were on scene to continue their investigation.
