The man who reportedly fled the scene of a hijacking along Scorpio Drive, leaving his wife behind has subsequently confessed to killing the woman. He was arrested on the night of Tuesday, April 5.
It was recently reported that the couple had been travelling from Katlehong in a Nissan Tiida, to a petrol station in the Lenasia Extension 9 vicinity to deliver money when they where accosted by two men in a black car.
One of the suspects from the car alighted and smashed the driver’s side window with a brick. A scuffle ensued and the driver of the Tiida managed to escape.
The woman was found dead with a stab wound to the stomach in a veld along Arcturus Street in Extension 9.
However, it has since come to light, the woman was killed in Katlehong and was driven to Lenasia in the passenger seat of the Tiida.
“The husband parked the car in the veld along Arcturus Street and dumped the body. He faked the hijacking. There was no black car or assailants,” said Lenasia SAPS spokesperson Captain Hector Netshivodza .
According to a reliable source, bloodied clothes were found at the couple’s home along with other incriminating evidence.
“Police investigations linked the husband to the murder. He will appear in court soon,” Netshivodza said.
