Three men, aged between 31 and 35, were arrested early hours of Thursday in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man from Hydrangea Street in Lenasia Extension 4.
“The police arrested the men after receiving information from informers,” said Captain Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS.
Two suspects were arrested at a dump site in Lenasia Extension 6 and the third suspect was arrested in Westonaria.
According to Captain Netshivhodza, the suspects are homeless.
“We are appealing to the community not to utilise or employ people without any physical address or a place they reside at,” Captain Netshivhodza mentioned.
On the day of the murder the suspects had assisted the man with fixing his car.
It is believed the man was stabbed and robbed.
The man was found in a pool of blood and was rushed to Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital where he later died.
“He had a wound to the head. We managed to stabilise him and transport him to hospital where he later died,” said Shuaib Ebrahim of Pulsate Ambulances.
“The suspects will at the Protea Magistrates’ Court on Friday, August 21, for their first appearance, ,” Captain Netshivhodza said.
