Lenasia South SAPS is investigating two inquest cases following the sudden death of a 36-year-old woman and her 13-year-old son. The incident occurred at Narens Farm informal settlement on Monday, May 23, 2022.
Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson Sgt Khalipha Mvula said, “It is alleged the woman and her son fell very ill shortly after consuming leftover food with other family friends and relatives from a function the family hosted on Saturday, May 21, 2022. She and her son were immediately rushed to the hospital in a serious condition but were unfortunately declared deceased upon arrival. The exact cause of their demise is unknown, and an autopsy will be conducted to establish the exact cause of their death. No foul play is suspected at this stage. Other family friends and relatives who had also consumed the food were taken to hospital to receive medical examination.”
