Lenasia South has launched a murder investigation following the discovery of an unknown African woman’s body on a mountain in Vlakfontein, on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Lenasia South spokesperson, Sergeant Khalipha Mvula said, “The gruesome discovery was made by a member of the public. Upon arrival at the scene, police found the half-naked body of the woman. Her hands were bound with a string, and the body was already in a state of decomposition. The cause of her death and the duration that the body had been lying there is unclear at this stage.”
Sgt Mvula added, “The deceased had a pink bra, and a purple blanket was found next to her. The station commander of Lenasia South SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Malan, expressed his sadness. He said that this incident had happened when the entire country was observing the 16 Days of Activism against the Abuse of Women and Children. He further said the police would work around the clock to ensure that those responsible for this crime would be found and have their day in a court of law. Members of the public are urged to come forward with any information that will assist in bringing the perpetrators to book.”
