Thandeka Zondo, from White City in Soweto, was reported missing on November 8, 2021. Earlier today (November 16), the suspect led the police to Klip River, next to the N12 informal settlement, where the body was found. Moroka SAPS spokesperson, Captain Mpande Khoza, said, “An African female named Thandeka Zondo, about 30 years of age, who resided at White City was reported missing by her mother at the Moroka SAPS. She has been missing since November 8, 2021.
All leads and information were followed up by the Moroka detectives under the command of Col Van Wyk.” Cpt Khoza added, “A suspect was traced and arrested. Community members alleged they saw a bakkie belonging to the suspect loading something in a plastic bag over the weekend. The suspect was brought in for questioning on November 15. He confessed to the police where the body of the missing woman was dumped.” “The suspect led police to Klip River in Lenasia, where the body was retrieved from the river. A case of murder has been opened, and one suspect has been arrested. Police are looking for the main suspect. Our appeal to the community is that when the relationship is no longer viable, don’t resort to murder. To all women, please do not stay in a toxic relationship that might result in losing your life,” said Cpt Khoza.
