Lenasia South SAPS has launched an investigation following the rape of a 13-year-old girl by an unknown perpetrator in Vlakfontein earlier this morning. Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Khalipha Mvula said, “It is alleged that at around 3 am, the father of the 13-year-old victim was awakened by noises of someone fiddling with the burglar door. He went to investigate, only to be confronted by an unknown gun-wielding African male who had already forced his way into the house.”
Sgt Mvula added, “The armed man allegedly held the 44-year-old father up at gunpoint and accused him of being involved in cable theft in the area. The father was told to take his daughter with him to meet the people who made the allegation. They then left the house. Along the way, the armed man told the father to go back to the house and wear his shoes as he was barefoot. His pleas to take his daughter with him were rejected. “The father left and went to seek assistance. The victim arrived home later and informed them that the perpetrator had raped her in an open veld near Qalakabotjha Secondary School. A rape case is currently under investigation.”
