Sergeant Victor Rikhotso was praised for his diligent work that led to the conviction of Zalinkosi Mchunu, 23, to life imprisonment. Lenasia SAPS, spokesperson, Sergeant Bafana Ndimande, said, “Mchunu murdered an adult African male on September 30, 2018. The victim was shot dead by the accused at Thembelihle informal settlement. Two months later, on November 4, Mchunu murdered an African male aged 38, also at Thembelihle informal settlement. The deceased was shot in the neck. The police received a complaint of a suspect in possession of a firearm at Thembelihle informal settlement on December 2, 2018. The officers searched the accused and found an unlicensed pistol and ammunition on him.”
Sgt Ndimande added, “The conviction is a result of diligent work done by the investigating officer, Sergeant Victor Rikhotso of SAPS Lenasia. We hope that this sentence will scare offenders away from committing the same crime.”
