Recently the South African Police Services launched a manhunt for an unknown armed suspect who shot and fatally wounded a 37 year old male victim at the Sheffield BP service station, Lenasia South. On July 3, a 43 year old murder suspect handed himself to the Lenasia South SAPS.
The 43 year old suspect handed himself at around 1:00 pm and his licensed firearm with fourteen live rounds of ammunitions was confiscated.

Lenasia South SAPS, Segeant Khalipha Mvula said, “The suspect handed himself to the authorities following an incident that occurred on Sunday, June 30 at around 8:00 pm near Sheffield BP Service station in Lenasia South extension 4 where a 37 year old man was shot and fatally wounded by the suspect while he tried to intervene during an altercation between the suspect and the deceased man’s friend.”
Sgt Mvula added, “ It is alleged that on the day of the incident the suspect drew his firearm and corked it,a single gun shot went off which resulted in the 37 year old man sustaining a gunshot wound on his upper body and succumbed to his injuries on the scene.The suspects is further alleged to have fired a second gunshot before fleeing the scene of crime. The suspect is expected to appear in court once he is formally charged with murder.”
