At the time of the incident in July 2018, it was alleged that 47-year-old Ms Haet had been kidnapped from her home by her boyfriend, Bisset. The two are alleged to have had a quarrel in Bisset’s car before he punched her unconscious. He is then alleged to have driven to Eikenhof where he further assaulted her before leaving her unconscious and driving off. Ms Haet managed to crawl to a nearby school to seek assistance.

The story quickly sparked the interest of the Lenasia and Eldorado Park communities, with many condemning the assault.

As a result of the assault, Ms Haet suffered injuries to her ribs and to her face.
