The South African Police Service is investigating a case of inquest, following the death of a 14 year old aspiring soccer player last Tuesday, at Protea Glen Extension 3 in Soweto.
According to police, the deceased was in the company of five others aged between 14 and 16, and their soccer coach.

“They boys were warming themselves up before their practice sessions at around 4.30 am at a sports ground next to Tholimfundo Primary school in when lightening struck the boy,” said Lenasia SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Khalipha Mvula.
The 14 year old boy collapsed on the field and was certified dead by paramedics.
“The management of the Soweto West police sends its heartfelt condolences to the deceased boy’s family and friends,” Sgt Mvula said.
