Community members were shocked at the death of a 32 year old man who was shot dead while in a room in the Nancefield hostel. The incident occurred on the afternoon of October 13.
Sergeant Khalipha Mvula, of Soweto West Cluster Standby Corporate Communications said, “According to information, on Saturday, October 13, at around 1:30 pm, the deceased, originally from Vryheid in KwaZulu-Natal, was visiting the hostel. He was seated next to the door, inside a room in the hostel, when several gunshots were heard. A short while later, another gunshot was heard outside the room and the 32 year old was hit in the face. He died instantly.

“Upon further investigation, it was established that there were two bullet holes in the window pane. The motive for the shooting is not yet known and police investigations are underway. No arrests have been made at this stage and police are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigations, by contacting the Crime Stop number 08600 10111.”
